Our client, a high profile establishment in North Yorkshire are currently looking to recruit a Head Chef to join their catering team. Set in over 2000 acres of North Yorkshire countryside this is a fantastic opportunity to manage a busy kitchen that serves over 800 covers per sitting 3 times a day as well as special banquets/ events throughout the year including weddings.

The main duties of the role include:

Overall responsibility for daily operations in the kitchen
Deputies for the Head of Food & Events during holidays & periods of absence
Liaising with purchasing companies for food orders
Producing menus and new dishes for various outlets

Managing, training and developing a team of chefs to include:
Inspiring & motivating the team to achieve food to specification
Leading by example, setting the pace and standards
Praising and recognising good performance
Dealing with poor performance
Assisting with the recruitment of new chefs
Carry out staff appraisals and development plans annually
Staff Rota’s

Managing the day to day food administration, ensuring systems compliance
Ensuring all menus and dishes are to specification and all recipes and preparation requirements are met.
Ensuring all food is served to specification and presented for service in a timely manner and in correct sequence
Ensuring readiness for service and correct pacing for peak periods
Quality control. Ensure that all customers and groups are satisfied with the quality of food and service.
Ensure that all Health and Safety and compliance/ Food Hygiene is met.

The ideal candidate will have experience of producing, preparing and presenting a high level of culinary skills and customer service within a busy kitchen. You must have in depth knowledge of food safety and compliance and have experience of managing a large team of catering staff.

In return our client is offering a salary of £32,320 per annum plus a competitive package.
