Maintenance Assistant – Edinburgh. (Permanent/Full Time)  
Catch 22 is a leading Facilities Management Recruitment Business with a network of clients across the UK. Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint Maintenance Assistants to service a new contract in Edinburgh.    
The Client:  
Our client has been trading internationally for many years but this is a major breakthrough for their business North of the Border. A significant health care facility, PFI funded and with further plans for development and growth, is looking for general maintenance professionals to assistant with essential maintenance of electrical systems, HVAC services and essential equipment within the building.    
The Role:    
The role will be technically demanding and consist of planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all critical building systems including: Generators, HVAC Systems, Some Medical Equipment (Medical Gases etc), Cooling Towers, Hot and Cold Water Storage and Supply Systems, Fan Coil Units, Air Handling Units, Roller Shutter and Security Doors, Basic electrical systems, plumbing and pipework, pumps, control valves etc. . In such a critical working environment, emergency coverage is required 7 days per week.    
You will take a supporting role to ensure the satisfactory completion of allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new and refurbishment works.  
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • To apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the M&E Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, prioritising all tasks and ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed within the required time scales in line with company procedures and IT systems.
  • To work alone with minimum supervision, or within a team, to carry out maintenance or repair as well as refurbishment and new works of electrical or mechanical services, plant and equipment across the site.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems and associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site.
  • To carry out electrical or mechanical works as required by the life cycle maintenance programme.
  • To carry out repairs and cleaning of components and equipment as necessary.
  • To respond promptly and efficiently to plant breakdowns and on-site emergencies.
  • To integrate and communicate effectively with all trades on-site including contractors.
  • To ensure all response and rectification times are completed in real time to ensure compliance with service performance indicators
  • Required to attend training programmes as necessary to meet contract requirements and for self development purposes.
  • Required to participate in over-time work from time to time as necessary to meet the requirements of the service.
  • To provide an effective and professional service adopting a flexible attitude to your place of work.
  • Where qualified, to drive the company vehicle as required to meet the needs of the service.
  • To present a professional and polite image to all customers whilst maintaining and promoting good communication and developing relationships with the client, other service partners and colleagues at all levels, ensuring the delivery of consistently high standards of customer service.
  • To fulfil health and safety responsibilities
The Candidate:    
The engineers will be mechanically or electrically biased / qualified and they will have previous experience working in a similar environment (healthcare, pharma, data, etc.)    
L8 Certification would be beneficial.    
2 references and a DBS check will be required.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications, be able to pass through an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check, be comfortable working a shift pattern (TBC) and you must have excellent communication skills.
