Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Edinburgh. (Permanent/Full Time)  
Catch 22 is a leading Facilities Management Recruitment Business with a network of clients across the UK. Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint 1 x Mechanically Biased  Maintenance Engineer and a seperate Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to service a new contract in Edinburgh.  
The Client:  
Our client has been trading internationally for many years but this is a major breakthrough for their business North of the Border. A significant health care facility, PFI funded and with further plans for development and growth, is looking for a number of maintenance professionals to cover the mechanical plant, HVAC services and essential equipment within the building.  
The Role:  
The role will be technically demanding and consist of planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all critical building systems including: Generators, HVAC Systems, Some Medical Equipment (Medical Gases etc), Cooling Towers, Hot and Cold Water Storage and Supply Systems, Fan Coil Units, Air Handling Units, Roller Shutter and Security Doors, Basic electrical systems, plumbing and pipework, pumps, control valves etc. . In such a critical working environment, emergency coverage is required 7 days per week.    
You will take a leading role requiring a thorough understanding of Engineering Building Services installation and maintenance techniques. You will apply trade skills and experience to ensure the satisfactory completion of allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new and refurbishment works.  
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • To apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the M&E Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, prioritising all tasks and ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed within the required time scales in line with company procedures, involving the use of mobile digital technology and IT systems as necessary.
  • To work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair of mechanical services plant and equipment across the site. Work alone or as part of a team carrying out refurbishment and new works on the site.
  • Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site.
  • To carry out mechanical works as required including but not limited to new works, refurbishment and work associated with the life cycle maintenance programme.
  • To carry out repairs and cleaning of components and equipment as necessary.
  • To respond promptly and efficiently to plant breakdowns and on-site emergencies.
  • To integrate and communicate effectively with all trades on-site including contractors.
  • To undertake training and qualify as Authorised or Competent Person for Mechanical plant/systems as required.
  • Required to participate in a rostered 24 hour on-call system providing emergency service during non-working hours, weekends and bank holidays.
  • To ensure all response and rectification times are completed in real time to ensure compliance with service performance indicators
  • Whilst on call take jobs from the Helpdesk or through the BMS alarm system and prioritise respond and rectify issues in accordance with performance criteria either remotely through the BMS, attend site call in a subcontractor and in real input information on help desk in respect to response rectification and close down times. Complete an all call report and submit daily
  • Required to participate in over-time work from time to time as necessary to meet the requirements of the service.
  • To undertake duties of training and supervision of Maintenance Workers, Trainees and Apprentices as required.
  • To provide an effective and professional service adopting a flexible attitude to your place of work.
  • To present a professional and polite image to all customers whilst maintaining and promoting good communication and developing relationships with the client, other service partners and colleagues at all levels, ensuring the delivery of consistently high standards of customer service.
  • To fulfil health and safety responsibilities
The Candidate:  
The engineers will be mechanically biased / qualified and they will have previous experience working in a similar environment (healthcare, pharma, data, etc.)  
Ideally, candidates will hold relevant qualifications and training in mechanical maintenance . FGAS or ACS Certification is advantageous but not essential. L8 Certification would be beneficial.  
2 references and a DBS check will be required.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications, be able to pass through an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check, be comfortable working a shift pattern (TBC) and you must have excellent communication skills. You will be a time served engineer with a proven track record in PPM and Reactive Maintenance.
