Catering Equipment (COMCAT) Engineer – Central London

  • Permanent
  • London
  • Salary: £ 33000.00 per annum
  • Job Reference: PM/HQ00011802
Catch 22's Technical Services Division has a number of vacancies (temp and perm) for a well established Refrigeration Contractor in the Greater London area. The client, trading for 20 years, has a number of existing clients in the West End / Central London area – mainly restaurants and public house establishments – to whom they provide a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service.  As part of this service, the company also repairs and maintains a wide variety of Catering Equipment (Gas). As a result – we are looking to strengthen the team by appointing a COMCAT Certified Engineer who is happy to work in restaurants, hotels and public houses across Central London.
The Role
A Qualified Catering Equipment Engineer is required (either short term temp or full time staff) to provide maintenance and repair services in Central London. The work is mobile but concentrated on a tight knit collection of clients – largely in the hospitality sector.
The Catering Equipment will be varied (including Rational, Hobart, Falcon, Buffalo etc) and units are generally fairly small and straight forward – but the client base is demanding and fast paced – so the engineers need to have great customer service skills, a solid career history and a proven capability in fault finding and first time repairs, a willingness to work overtime and travel around central London.
Many of the clients are grouped within walking distance so the existing team will often park up centrally and conduct maintenance and repair work on foot.
The Person
Must be Gas Safe / ACS Qualified and hold COMCAT 1 and 3 (minimum) with COMCAT 2 and 5 a nice bonus!
Must hold a UK Driving License
Could be a contractor or someone looking for a staff position.
Will consider applications from engineers who have completed an Apprenticeship and have the relevant NVQ/City & Guilds Qualifications alongside their COMCAT Certificates.
The Package
We are open minded on salary and fully aware that COMCAT Engineers are in high demand at present. I would expect a salary around £35,000 and over but I am happy to listen to realistic expectations, subject to experience.
The existing team is contracted to a 40 hour week but, as you would expect, a more realistic weekly time sheet will clock up in excess of 50-60 hours per week.
The potential OTE for this role would be in excess of £45,000 per annum. The existing team is very well established and staff retention is excellent.
