Reporting to Main Board (as a Main Board colleague)
 
The Group is looking for a Finance Director to lead the Group Finance Function, joining the current Main Board of seven individuals.  This is in furtherance of the Board's desire to strengthen and deepen its collective expertise and bandwidth to facilitate the next stages of the Group's ambitious business growth programme. Since foundation, Group Finance has been headed by a Financial Controller, who has reported to the Group Managing Director in the absence of a Finance Director on the Main Board.
 
Group turnover is currently at a run-rate of £70m per annum after 5 years of trading, with most of the growth in the past 3 years, now set to grow to £200m over the next 3-4 years.
 
Main Function
 
Manage the Finance function and all financial aspects of the Group's strategic planning processes.  Compile and deliver statutory and management accounts.  Direct all finance operations, controls and banking processes to agree and meet the business's financial health and performance targets, whilst managing risk appropriately.
 
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
 
  • Direct and co-ordinate control of the Group's finance, accounting and banking functions
  • Develop and maintain the financial elements of the Company's strategy and medium to long term business plans, to meet specified targets and deadlines.  Monitor performance against those targets.
  • Manage the provision and analysis of financial management information, deliver trend analysis and predictive measures to the Board and to the Group's senior executive teams to a regular weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual set of cycles.
  • Develop and control the Company's annual operating budget to meet all financial targets.
  • Ensure that the Group's statutory accounts are compiled and published to comply with statute and business requirements.
  • Review and improve all required systems, policies and procedures, control measures and commercial decision processes for effective and efficient financial management within the Group.
  • Ensure that all finance operations, including accounts payable and receivable, debt collection, treasury, payroll, pensions and other functions are performed in accordance with statute and best practice and in a contained risk environment.
  • Prepare and implement an internal and external audit programme to ensure that the Group complies with financial regulations and good practice.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with auditors, legal professionals, bankers and statutory organisations.
  • Ensure that the Group is maintained in a state of readiness to consider opportunistic acquisitions or inward investments.
 
General Management:
 
  • Lead and develop and grow the Finance Professional Team including recruitment, training and coaching.
  • Manage and motivate the Team to achieve Departmental and Group objectives, including performance reviews, appraisals and disciplinary meetings, through delegation as appropriate.
  • Lead, Coach and Mentor senior colleagues and peers as appropriate.
 
Required Experience:
 
Essential
  • Extensive senior level (FD) experience, ACCA or ACA qualified.
  • Previous senior (Board) level management experience including financial and budget management, strategy formulation and people and resource management at multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience of a fast-growth environment and transition from privately owned corporate structures to third-party funding.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT systems in general in addition to accounting systems.
 
Desirable
  • Previous experience working within the property or facilities management sectors and/or of working in a technology-led enterprise.
  • Experience of corporate acquisition and/or divestment processes, especially due diligence and preparation for sale or purchase.

Education and Qualification
 
Essential
  • Degree or equivalent or other qualifications eg General secondary educational qualifications required.
  • Qualified member of an Accountancy Body or holder of an equivalent qualification
