Catch 22 is a leading Facilities Management Recruitment Business with a network of clients across the UK. Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint a Maintenance Assistant (1 x Electrical bias; 1 x Mechanical bias) to service a new contract in Edinburgh.    
The Client:  
Our client has been trading internationally for many years and this is a high profile and valuable contract for them in Scotland. A significant health care facility, PFI funded and with further plans for development and growth, is strengthening its maintenance team and requires 2 capable assistants to support the Engineering Technicians on site in a variety of maintenance tasks (both reactive and planned) across various assets, mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC plant and general building fabric. This will include specialist medical devices, air conditioning systems, water hygiene, generators and essential fire/security systems and emergency lighting.  
Main Purpose of Job
To support the Estates Team by providing direct assistance and undertaking routine maintenance tasks as allocated by the Supervisor or Line Manager.
Conditions and Salary
The Operative will be required to work to a rotated Shift Rota (6AM to 14:30PM, 8AM to 17:00PM & 14:30PM to 22:00PM) and is expected to be flexible within this Rota.
A basic salary is estimated at £20,000 – £21,500 per annum plus company pension, generous holiday allowance and opportunities for training and development.  
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. To undertake any allocated jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed in a satisfactory, accurate and prompt manner.
  2. Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning activity across the site, this will also include Grounds and Gardens work and manual labouring tasks.
  3. To integrate and communicate effectively with contractors and electrical, mechanical and building services staff.
  4. To carry out general duties including support by manual labour for relocations and moves, tidying and cleaning Estates areas and Plant rooms.
  5. Drive the company vehicle as required to meet the needs of the service.
  6. To carry out PAT testing after training has been successfully undertaken.
  7. To respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns.
  8. Required to attend training programmes as necessary to meet contract requirements and for self development purposes.
  9. Required to participate in over-time work from time to time as necessary to meet the requirements of the service.
  10. To comply with Company Policies and Procedures.
  11. To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy Statement, Manual, Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments.
  12. To support and practice the Company's Quality  and Environmental Policies and Mission Statement.
