Maintenance Assistant x2

This new role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled Maintenance Assistant (Handyperson) person who can offer the flexibility and commitment, to join our Estates and Facilities team in undertaking a range of duties across our three Centres.  The Maintenance Assistant role will be a job share covering Friday to Wednesday inclusive, with each party working 3 days a week operating on a two-week rota (20hrs per week).   Week One will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Week Two Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.  Week One duties (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) will predominantly be based at our Old Windsor Centre.  The location in Week 2   will be determined by business need at each of our Centres, and therefore the post holder will be required to work at any of our three centres i.e. London, Old Windsor or Brands Hatch (Fawkham).  Each of these three days could be at a different Centre. When undertaking Week One duties the post holder will be the only Maintenance person on site on Saturday and Sunday.  
 
 
Main purpose of the role
To provide a flexible, professional, customer focused Maintenance service across our three centres Supporting the organisation with general maintenance tasks whilst adding value by applying expert knowledge to site maintenance across all sites as directed.
 
 
 
Overall Objectives
  • To carry out general maintenance tasks set by the Facilities manager.
  • To keep the buildings in good working order and ensure that general maintenance work is carried out safely and in order of priority.
  • To maintain standards of cleanliness and hygiene set by the management.
  • To maintain standards of site landscaping including the use of ride on lawn mowers and portable landscaping equipment.

  • To make decisions on the condition and safety of any work equipment after training by the Facilities Manager.

Person Specification  
Essential
  • Experience and competence in undertaking general maintenance/handyman tasks.
  • Proven experience of working constructively and collaboratively with colleagues from different teams.
  • Ability to undertake a range of maintenance/DIY/groundworks tasks at each of the three Centres.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between the three sites on a regular basis to undertake duties.
  • Ability and motivation to deliver high quality work with minimum supervision.
  • A flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of, and a commitment to the vision, mission and values.
  • Experience of positively embracing and adapting to change.
  • Experience of taking the initiative in a maintenance environment and suggesting new ways of working that have been successfully implemented.  
  • Experience of communicating clearly, with the ability to adapt your communication style for different groups.
  • A track record of taking responsibility for your own work and the decisions you have made.  
 
Desirable
  • Experience of working outdoors.
