Catch 22 is a leading Facilities Management Recruitment Business with a network of clients across the UK. Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint a Maintenance Technician to service a new contract in Edinburgh.    
The Client:  
Our client has been trading internationally for many years and this is a high profile and valuable contract for them in Scotland. A significant health care facility, PFI funded and with further plans for development and growth, is looking for a number of maintenance professionals to cover the mechanical plant, HVAC services and essential equipment within the building.    
The Role:    
The role will be technically demanding and consist of planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all critical building systems including: Generators, HVAC Systems, Some Medical Equipment (Medical Gases etc), Cooling Towers, Hot and Cold Water Storage and Supply Systems, Fan Coil Units, Air Handling Units, Roller Shutter and Security Doors, Basic electrical systems, plumbing and pipework, pumps, control valves etc. . In such a critical working environment, emergency coverage is required 7 days per week.    
You will take a leading role requiring a thorough understanding of Engineering Building Services installation and maintenance techniques. You will apply trade skills and experience to ensure the satisfactory completion of allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new and refurbishment works.  
The Working Hours and Package:
Working hours will be based on a rotated Shift Rota (6AM to 14:30PM, 8AM to 17:00PM & 14:30PM to 22:00PM) so flexibility will be necessary.
Salary is estimated between 29,000 and 33,000 dependent on experience and capability.  
 
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities
  • Apply relevant trade skills to undertaking scheduled planned and reactive maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain appropriate qualifications, and up-to-date trade knowledge, as may be required for the safe and efficient performance of duties.
  • Immediately report any potentially dangerous situations to the Maintenance Supervisor and carry out any immediate rectification if required.
  • Will identify materials and services required by Duty Supervisor, Maintenance Manager & Admin as required for ordering system and updating records, certify satisfactory delivery / completion, following the approved company financial and procurement system.
  • Oversee specialist contractors and ensure that they are working safely within the guidelines and agreed permit to work process.
  • Apply relevant trade skills to undertaking scheduled installation works as directed by the Maintenance Building Manager/supervisor.
  • Ensure the satisfactory, prompt and accurate completion of any associated paperwork as required by the company, i.e. job record cards, work orders etc.
  • To participate in the departments multi skilled division, undertaking other trades works following successful completion of training which will be provided.
  • Be part of the facilities management, out-of-hours team, ensuring the successful delivery and operational coverage of all Hard FM for the contract (7/365), as required.
  • Develop and maintain good communication and relationships at all levels with the Client together with customers within the Company.
  • To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.
  • To comply with the Company's Policies, Management Plans and Procedures.
  • To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service. Significant permanent changes in duties will require agreed revisions to be made to this Job Description.
