Catch 22 have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the NHS and on this occasion, we are looking to expand their ever-growing team with a Mechanical Craftsperson. This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent after 12 weeks.
We are looking to appoint someone with a Mechanical/Plumbing bias to join their estates team in Leeds, slightly outside the City Centre.
The main responsibilities of the role are;
  • To receive and provide complex information in relation to plumbing and mechanical issues
  • To receive instructions in the form of work request forms and verbal from the estate's supervisor and the estates and Facilities managers and to carry out works requests as instructed.
  • To liaise with users to gain information including access to carry out works requests to liaise with suppliers of equipment and materials and to be able to order items where required to maintain effective communication on team work within the estate's team.
  • To divulge and explain technical information to other estates team members and service users to ensure a high quality of services to users of the Trusts Estates.
  • To be able to provide supervision of estates assistants when and if required and to assist other trades where required.
  • To liaise and communicate effectively with contractors employed by the estates and facilities department when required
  • To communicate effectively with other trust and partners staff to ensure continuity of the estates department.
  • To take appropriate action to clarify points of detail to ensure sufficient detailed information is available for management action or to action personally if appropriate.
In order to be considered for this role you must;
  • Have an approved Pluming/Mechanical qualification to City & Guilds standard with extensive post apprenticeship experience of working within a maintenance environment with experience of working in a multi-tasking situation
  • To be capable of manipulating and utilizing hand tools and test appliances ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship and accuracy at all times
  • To have good communication skills both verbal and written and computer skills
  • Will be expected to attend a wide range of general plant breakdowns and to be able to carry out fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Must be able to perform various work activities which may be of a complex demanding, routine or non -routine nature
  • To be expected to work if required in unpleasant conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dirt ,dust ,and drainage systems.
  • Will be required to assemble erect and install new work relative to their core skill and also to perform a wide range of similar works related to other trades to an acceptable level
  • To be able to use relevant portable hand tools and equipment competently and safely.
  • To be able to carry out surveys on plant and equipment and building environment and fabric for deterioration as required.
  • Will have responsibility to carry out open and lock up duties to any trust site to provide access for contractors or trust staff as and when required
  • To carry out all works with consideration to comply with trust policies and legal requirements.
