Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Surveyor, Project Surveyor or Estimator for their Regional office in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

The client has a wide range of ongoing contracts (largely public sector biased) and provides Facilities Management, Maintenance and M&E Projects to a range of schools, health centres and commercial properties across Yorkshire, the North West and the Midlands from their base in Leeds.

We are looking for someone who can develop and/or review bids and tenders and monitor ongoing contractual agreements and financial commitments on PFi and similar contracts.

The role would suit an experienced Estimator or Commercial Surveyor with previous experience of Facilities Management contracts and small works. A HVAC / M&E Bias would certainly be beneficial. Experience with CAFM Systems (notably Maximo) and excellent IT skills are required.

They turnover in excess of £200,000,000 per annum and continue to build a first class reputation for construction and operational support services.

The Role:

Working within an established commercial team, you will be responsible for a wide range of surveying and commercial functions, focusing on existing contracts and new bids. Duties will include:

 

  • Commercial control of existing Contracts – working with the operational delivery teams to ensure best value, contractual adherence, prompt payment, financial performance reporting, dispute resolution, etc.
  • A proactive role in the Bid Preparation phase – reviewing operational bids, developing new bids, supporting the estimating team and the commercial preparation for new tenders.
  • The production of accurate reports using Excel and associated IT Platforms.
  • Full utilisation of the organisations CAFM System which feeds essential data into the commercial and operational teams. Monitoring the ongoing performance of the company in relation to Facilities Management Service delivery (largely “Hard Services” across M&E Assets, HVAC Plant, Building Fabric Maintenance, etc.)
  • Attend monthly commercial review meetings & report on problematic contracts.
  • Assist the operation and contract management teams to implement financial recovery plans on underperforming contracts.
  • Evaluate and report on sub contractor performance.
  • Assist clients & operations teams to provide budgets & target costs.
  • Oversee procurement profitability and better buying practices ensuring best value for money.
  • Quantify project materials & labour, set target budgets for procurement & labour workforce in conjunction with the operations teams.
  • Prepare and submit contract Variations / Compensation events as necessary.

 

 
The Person:

We are seeking an experienced surveyor or estimator who carries suitable qualifications and affiliations. Chartered Surveying Status is ideal but anyone with a proven track record in QS/Estimating work will be considered.

Ideally – you will possess:

 

  • Candidates will ideally have some exposure to the Facilities Management sector
  • Candidates MUST possess excellent IT skills and a familiarity with CAFM Systems (notably Maximo) would be extremely beneficial.
  • HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar subject
  • Alternatively – demonstrable experience of commercial surveying and estimating work within a construction of FM organisation.
  • A sound understanding of the Facilities Management industry
  • Prior experience and knowledge of PFi, LIFT, JCT, NEC3 and similar contracts would be ideal.
  • Excellent reporting skills and good customer engagement capabilities.
  • A drive for achievement, self motivation and a desire to make a commercial impact. 

 

 
We have a salary estimate of between £30,000 and £40,000 per annum – given that the role is open to candidates with varying degrees of experience, we are open to negotiation.
